You know i sometimes find myself getting caught up in an ego-centric battle of how much more i know than someone, or how i must have ALL the answers, or how much knowledge i have, or how superior my intelligence is to that of a mere mortal, rah rah rah…
I’m not going to lie, lots of people do lot’s of dumb things. But it’s not about how much any of us knows… It’s the simple stance of saying hey, i’m open to seeing and understanding different viewpoints, i’m suspending my need to find what or why i’m right, i’m letting go of the possible fear that by not being the EXPERT i am inviting possible defeat, possible judgement… By readopting this attitude of being “the learner,” that i had grown accustomed to which easily gets lost in the world of business and cynicism and negativity and difficult people… Just seems that makes everything peaceful again.
Have you ever felt like this? How about you, does this make sense?
hey Jamie!
I totally came across your blog by accident (via your post on Music think tank) & have now subscribed! 🙂
I totally agree with your thoughts above though. I wrote a post on my own blog with a similar gist; when it comes to who’s right or wrong, it’s always a matter of opinion. Even when you are actually right or wrong, opinion will give you whatever emotion is related to that reality.
Sometimes its better to shrug, smile and agree to disagree. You gain something when you do that, even if that thing is just perspective.
Thanks Dreama!
Nice way to put it.
See you around!
